Rehab Center

Rehab centers play a key role in addiction recovery for many, many addicts and alcoholics. For many individuals a rehab center offers a break from their normal environments where use and addiction has become the norm for them. The amount of care, compassion, understanding, and persistence needed to affect a true and lasting recovery is often only available in a residential rehab center. To create true healing one must first get away from the source of injury, pain, upset and apathy and the rehab center offers the drug free environment in which to do so.

Alcohol rehabilitation of course involves the cessation of all alcohol use. Alcoholic generally have all sorts of reasons and rationale for drinking. Many, many try to control their drinking and only end up putting off the inevitable. Alcoholism can only end in one of three ways – death, jail, or sobriety. There really are no other options. Many times alcoholics will be involved in other substance abuse, often unknown or unsuspected by family or loved ones. Whether it is alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both, the three factors needing fully and competently addressed are the cravings, guilt, and depression that are hand and hand with any addiction.

Drugs are used in an attempt to handle pain, be it emotional or physical or both. The person decides to use a drug or alcohol to reduce discomfort derived from the problem or pain and finds only limited relief but now assigns value to the drug. Thus he returns to the drug or alcohol for more and more use. At best the drugs simply mask the symptoms of emotional or physical pain. As time goes on the drug or alcohol is used more and more and tolerance for the drug increased the quantity needed to achieve the same results. Often before the person is really aware of it he now addicted and craves this relief all the time and will do whatever is necessary to obtain the drug or alcohol. The debilitating effects of the drugs can and do create more and more mental and physical problems and pains which often leads to the use of other addictive drugs in an endless downward spiral.

Narconon Arrowhead is a drug rehab program in the fullest sense of the term. Rehabilitate means to restore to a former condition or state, while program refers to a series of steps to bring about an intended result. At Narconon Arrowhead we use a multi-phase approach to first end drug abuse and addiction while restoring mental and physical health and vigor with full detoxification of the body. We then go on to assist the individual in handling issues surrounding cravings, guilt and depression that led up to and then continued the abuse and addiction. Once past problems and issues have been resolved to the student’s satisfaction he is ready to move into learning tools and abilities to enable him to confront the present and to create the future he wants for himself, family, career, etc. While there are probably as many issues to confront as there are addicts and each has his own particular scene, the above is the rough outline for achieving a drug free productive life for our students, while addressing each individuals particular needs.

The correct choice of drug and alcohol treatment is a life altering and (more often than not) a life saving choice. Here are some of our suggestions at Narconon Arrowhead for what to look for in drug and alcohol treatment regardless of whether you choose Narconon Arrowhead or not. First, find a program that is drug free including withdrawal (except when medically needed). Handling addiction with more drugs just doesn’t make good sense. Second find a program that offers full detoxification in addition to withdrawal only. Stored drugs and toxins can account for cravings and relapse months or even years after last use. Third in our list of most important drug and alcohol treatment needs is a treatment that fully addresses guilt and depression which almost always accompany drug or alcohol addiction, and in fact can be major factors that led up to the drug or alcohol abuse to begin with. These are of course not a complete list, but are starting points when exploring various treatment options.
